After trying basically everything to find a passion, eventually landed on drawing and decided to become an artist. My work usually gravitates around the themes of psychology and identity with lots of colors. Growing up in Brazil and immigrating twice brought a lot of questions that are answered by creating. Art has always been a way to learn about my own struggles, and I express that with relatable silly little books and doodles, hoping to build a safe space for those who come across my art. Like a hug, made out of paint and paper. Someone once said that making sh*t art is better than making no art, that is why letting go of perfectionism and focusing on keeping the creative process fun and exciting is a must. It awakes childhood memories of an 8 year old Maia making small furniture for Barbies with whatever she found around the house. I want to explore as many mediums as possible and see where it takes me.
Currently attending my 3rd year at Willem de Kooning Academy, in Rotterdam, for my illustration bachelor.
Thank you for taking a look, enjoy!
